1:30 h bus ride from Serres to Thessaloniki and 1 h with city bus from the bus station to the airport. It takes 2 h and 30 minutes to even reach Thessaloniki airport from Serres. + 3 h flight to arrive to Brussels too. Me and Flo took a hotel close to the Charleroi airport because we arrived around midnight and none of the AirBnb hosts wanted to stay up so late to give us the keys.

On the next day we took a taxi back to the airport and waited in the line to catch the bus to the city. We had bought tickets online, but the only advantage with online ticket purchase was that you wouldn't need to wait at the ticket counter. I believe the price was the same online and at the machine. Waited about an hour until we got on the bus. The bus took around 45 - 60 min to the centre. In the centre we took an Uber to the AirBnB, dropped our stuff and took another Uber to Atomium.

The Atomium is one of the landmarks in Brussels. It was constructed in 1958 as the icon for the World´s Fair in Brussels. It was designed to last for only 6 months, but with its gained popularity they decided to not demolish the Atomium. Today, 6 out of the 9 spheres are accessible to the public. They hold exhibitions and the top sphere locates a restaurant with a panoramic view to Brussels. The landmark is 102 m tall and resembles the unit cell of an iron crystal, magnified 165 billion times. Inside the central vertical tube is the lift which is one of the fastest elevators - 5 m/s. It allows to reach the top in 23 seconds. There are also stairs and elevators in the other tubes. The escalators are one of the longest in Europe, the longest being 35 m.

We did not go inside the Atomium, because we had not planned it and were heading to the MiniEurope park. Next time I visit Brussels I will go inside too. Brussels was a city which I really liked and will be happy to go there again. Aka, recommend Brussels.

Weird ass statue, but it had mirrors reflecting back to the Atomium and I could see myself hehe

We also took the opportunity to take a photo with the photo machine:
