We rented a car with other Erasmus students for the weekend and first we wanted to go swim. To use the last nice weathers to go swimming. We went to Ofrinio beach because that was the closest to us, it took 50 minutes from Serres to get there. It was really windy which made it a bit cold. We got used to the wind and went swimming. I would go anyways, but we all went in and it was so nice! Stepped on some stingy plants going and coming from the sea. It was so bloody painful. Took them out and in couple minutes it was okay.

After swimming we drove to Lidl to buy food. There was another beach next to Lidl and we ate our lunch there.

Then we drove to Kavala. Kavala has about 70 000 people which is 10 000 more than in Serres. We parked our car next to the harbour and went towards the fortress. On the way up we saw nice views, lots of animals and abandoned houses. By that time we arrived to the top, the fortress was already closed. We went to one cafe for a drink and the toilet. We watched the sunset and started driving back to Serres.

Kavala´s aqueduct. Probably of Roman origin, but the present structure dates back to 16th century. In the back of the picture you can see the castles walls

On many walls and abandoned houses were painted eyes

On top of one abandoned building. There was no protect fence, felt bit scary to look down. Also there is the aqueduct on the left

Small streets and cars drove on most of them

The second time I went there was week later. My boyfriend came to visit me and I wanted to take him there too because I really liked the city. We were walking around the city and this time the fortress was open so we checked that out. We went to eat after we had seen everything and drove back to Thessaloniki where was our accommodation.

Ps, parking is really tight in Kavala
